Stormboyz, the shock troops of many successful warbands, dedicate their lives to the time honoured martial disciplines of drilling, marching and hurtling through the air. To this end they go to war strapped to rokkit packs that, when activated propel their wearers forward on great tongues of oily black flame.

The Orks call their ruling caste Nobz. Nobz are bigger and scarier than other Orks and revel in cruel or casual violence. Nobz lead by example, plunging into the thick of the fighting and breaking skulls left, right and centre. In this way each Nob acts as a sergeant-at-arms, champion, oppressor and role model for the Boyz they lead.

Battlewagons are massive metal gunbeasts that prowl through the ranks of the Orks on great clanking treads. Some are mobile fortresses, packed to the gunnels with Ork warriors. Others bristle with ordnance and heavy weaponry. The iron fists of the Ork warband, Battlewagons fulfil many battlefield roles, but first amongst them is grinding the enemy into the ground.

Weirdboyz are the most psychically powerful of all Orks as they act as a focal point for the psychic energy generated by their greenskin comrades. Orks are generally pretty rowdy, and as a result the Weirdboy can pick up quite a lot of psychic energy which can, unless dissipated, prove spectacularly fatal for him. Weirdboyz often release their pent-up energy as a devastating blast, resulting in a messy and untimely death for anyone in the vicinity. Sometimes they disappear entirely, reappearing amongst the enemy with a blinding green flash. However their powers manifest, the Orks that follow them into battle are always guaranteed a good show.

Mekboyz are responsible for inventing, building and maintaining the machinery and weaponry that the Orks use. They are obsessed with creating ever larger and more devastating war machines to unleash upon the foe. The Shokk Attack Gun is one such creation.

To the casual observer the weapon is little more than a pile of junk, welded, strapped and bolted together with whirling gubbinz that fly round and round. The truth (aside from the fact that it does resemble a pile of junk) is that it has the potential to open a warp rift that can suck anything it’s aimed at into oblivion. Whether that was the intention of the Mek when he created the weapon is doubtful as aside from this, the gun can produce an interesting and diverse array of effects that surprise and delight nearby greenskins and dismay their enemies.

Ork Tankbustas live for the big kill, preferring to wield a rokkit launcha in battle as opposed to the choppas and sluggas more commonly associated with their race. It is their role on the battlefield to hunt down enemy tanks and blow them to smithereens with well-aimed (in other words, lucky) salvoes of rokkits. Sometimes a Tankbusta will become frustrated with the lack of rokkits that actually get to the target and he’ll find a more accurate way of delivering them instead. Occasionally the Ork will strap a bundle of high explosives to a Squig and direct it to run underneath a nearby vehicle. More often than not, the Ork will simply attach a rokkit to a stick and hit the enemy tank repeatedly until something explodes.

Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka is a mighty prophet of the Waaagh!, capable of rousing entire planetary populations of Orks into a frenzy of conquest and bloodshed. He is the single most influential Ork in the galaxy and billions of Greenskins march to war in his name. Like all Ork Warlords, Ghazghkull can be found right at the heart of the battle, tearing his foes limb from limb, crushing them beneath his armoured might or simply head-butting them to death. For Ghazghkull, war is eternal and there is nothing he would like to see more than a galaxy consumed by Orks and embroiled in a never-ending, brutal war.

Boss Zagstruk is the much-feared leader of da Vulcha Squad, a band of elite Stormboyz. He is a merciless killer and a fanatical disciplinarian who loves nothing more than bullying those smaller than him into doing exactly what they’re told. Zagstruk has a cunnin’ tactic for deploying his Stormboyz right into the heart of the enemy army. This normally involves a low-flying plane and a quick leap out the back of it. This means da Vulcha Squad can hit the enemy feet first and with their rokkit packs blazing. To make sure his feet hit the hardest, Zagstruk is equipped with da Vulcha’s Klaws, a pair of bionic legs that allow him to perform his favourite manoeuvre – the fly-by decapitation.

Painboyz are also known as Doks, and their chief passions are surgery and extreme dentistry. It’s a brave (or unconscious) Ork who goes to a Painboy for medical attention, as his routine surgery will almost certainly evolve into something much more experimental and not always entirely useful – an exploding leg for example. When the Orks go to war, the Painboy will accompany the most affluent Orks into battle – they should be able to afford his medical expertise. While they are busy hacking and chopping their way through enemy soldiers, the Painboy will eagerly move amongst them, patching up lost limbs, doing a spot of welding on a broken face or even give them a shot from his rusty syringe.

Big Meks are responsible for inventing, building and maintaining the machinery and weaponry that the Orks use. They are obsessed with creating ever larger and more devastating war machines to unleash upon the foe. A Big Mek will traditionally take to the battlefield armed with their favourite invention – in this case, a Kustom Force Field. This bizarre contraption covers all units nearby with a rudimentary force field that protects Da Ladz from incoming fire. The Big Mek may be odd in the head, but nearby Orks really do appreciate his presence.
